Quinta de S. Sebastião is located in a small town north of Lisbon called Arruda dos Vinhos, one of the sub-regions of the main region of Lisbon. Arruda dos Vinhos has a tradition of winemaking for over 1,000 years. Quinta de S. Sebastião was founded in 1755, the same year of the earthquake that destroyed most of Lisbon. Quinta de S. Sebastião has since played a major role in restoring tradition and infrastructure while making outstanding wines.
The vineyards are located on the same hills of “Forte do Cego”, which an old military fortification. “Forte do Cego”, which was first called “Forte de S. Sebastião” (because of the Quinta), was part of a line of fortifications, called “Linhas de Torres”, that played a crucial role in defending Lisbon against the French invasions led by Napoléon Bonaparte. Today Quinta has become globally recognized and continues to grow under the current owner and Portuguese entrepreneur, Mr. Antonio Parente.
The beauty of the Quinta is a complex combination of mild climatic factors, sunny slopes, geographic location, proximity to the sea, protection of the mountain, and of course the people who live and take care of Quinta de S. Sebastião’s lands and vineyards every day. The winemaker is Filipe Sevinate Pinto who has been with the winery since 2012.

Wine and horses are central activities in the daily life of Quinta de São Sebastião and are closely linked to its history. Both depend on man's relationship with nature. In the horse, this activity is represented by the harness. In wine, and these in particular. this relationship is revealed in the way in which our winemakers, using new knowledge and ancient practices, have produced two wines of excellence through renowned grape varieties planted in high altitude vineyards that benefit from the Atlantic and temperamental climate of this region.
Quinta de S. Sebastão honors those who know how to take care of it. This range, Dona Flor (Miss Flower), inherits the name of someone who, through dedication, passion and dedication, has played an unavoidable role in the Quinta de S.Sebastião project. Wines from Arruda dos Vinhos, where the climate is Mediterranean with a strong Atlantic influence. Produced using national and international varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Syrah, Arinto and Sauvignon Blanc. They contain an expressive minerality, they are balanced, elegant and fresh wines.
The Forte do Cego is located in Casal do Ceco, in the municipality of Arruda dos Vinhos and is part of the historic route of the Lines of Torres Vedras. It was also known as Forte de S.Sebastião, the name by which it was originally nicknamed, due to its proximity to our Quinta. The new range was inspired by this same historic route that is made up of 152 forts that defended Lisbon from the French Invasions, led by Napoleon Bonaparte.
To face these difficult times, where we were all forced to see the real world through the window, we opened one in our White Window in the hope that we will soon be free to show the best of Portugal again. For now, we give you the expressive flavor and aroma of Lisbon from this elegant wine made from the Syrah, Castelão and Tinta Roriz grape varieties, very fresh and fruity, well balanced with spicy notes acquired by partial aging in oak.
This range is inspired by the Mina Velha that exists in Quinta de S.Sebastião. A mine composed of underground galleries that cross the entire property and that make possible the historic relationship that the Quinta has with the “Linhas de Torres” that were essential in the defense of Lisbon against the French invasions. The wines in this range have several national grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, Arinto and Fernão Pires, which give them a young, expressive and fruity aroma, making them easy to drink, smooth and elegant wines.
In one of the highest points of our Quinta there is a place named after him, Miradouro da Vinha. Located at an altitude of about 240 meters and with a privileged view over the Tagus River, our viewpoint enchants those who dare to walk the steep slopes of our vineyards. In this very special place, we have an almost perfect perception of all our vineyard plots as well as a view that makes us immerse ourselves in the beauty and history of this region.
As planet Earth is a powerful ecosystem, it is necessary to preserve what is most beautiful in it. Animals are fundamental to its sustainability, and if we do not work towards the development of the species, they will eventually disappear. It was this theme that inspired the QSS Rare Range. A combination of aromas and flavors with a theme that is sensitive to everyone: Animals in danger of extinction. Wines that combine elegance, surroundings, freshness and softness. They have an ideal terroir and national and international varieties such as Syrah and Touriga Nacional. Produced in Arruda dos Vinhos, where the climate is Mediterranean with a strong Atlantic influence.
S.Sebastião, who inspired and named Quinta de S.Sebastião, was a martyr and great warrior who believed he could remove the Roman Empire from the persecution of Christians. This range of wines, due to its irreverence, was also inspired by this historical figure who is intrinsically linked to the village of Arruda dos Vinhos where our Quinta is located. This range is made up of wines from a Mediterranean climate with a strong Atlantic influence and blends of recognized national and international grape varieties. These wines are characterized by the involvement of their smooth, fruity, fresh and elegant flavors.

It is one of the most original and distinctive regions of Portugal, marked by an extreme Atlantic influence, in a green and humid landscape, with cool temperatures and abundant rainfall. It is the largest denomination in Portugal, with an area of around 24,000 hectares, occupying an immense area throughout the north-west of continental Portugal, with ownership spread over thousands of small plots, sometimes little larger than small backyards. It is located in the extreme north of continental Portugal, bounded to the north by the Minho river, stretching along the Atlantic coast as far as the city of Porto and to the south as far as the banks of the Vouga river. The vineyards are concentrated along the valleys of the main rivers. The soils are homogeneous and mostly granite, fertile to very fertile, with high acidity.

The rolling hills that stretch along the Atlantic coast north of Lisbon are home to some of the most productive and heterogeneous areas in Portugal. The vines located near the coast suffer from a strong and decisive Atlantic influence, while the vines located inland, protected from maritime influence by the different mountain systems, benefit from a transitional Mediterranean climate. The wines from coastal areas have very low alcoholic concentrations, with a lightness comparable to the wines from Minho. The soils are divided between clayey-calcareous and sandy-clayey areas.
