Compagnie Française des Grands Vins (CFGV) was founded in 1909 to further the discovery by Eugène Charmat of the second natural fermentation in cuvee. With over 100 years of history and know-how, Compagnie Française des Grands Vins is today the largest sparkling wines producer in France.
The Charmat “Cuve Close” Method was invented in 1907 by Eugène Charmat. Our sparkling wine is produced according to the Charmat process by which a second natural fermentation occurs in a closed cap. The base wines are carefully selected and treated before fermentation. Then they receive an addition of sugar and yeasts creating the formation of bubbles. After fermentation, the wines are filtered before bottling. The base wines chosen for the elaboration of our “Charmat Method” sparkling wine have been delicately chosen for their bouquet of freshness, thus guaranteeing the finesse of their aromas.
A sparkling wine with a pale yellow color, thin bubbles, and a fresh, fruity nose. It has a light fermentation note, good acidity, and an ethereal bouquet with hints of citrus and apple. The wine is balanced with a mouth-tingling acidity that enhances the finish.

Alsace, France
Alsace’s capitol city is Strasbourg. The region can be found in the very eastern side of France in a valley along the Rhine River – a river that separates France and Germany. On the other side of the river is Baden, a German wine region that produces wines in a similar style. The region is broken up into two parts: The Bas-Rhin (to the North, by Strasbourg) and Haut-Rhin (to the South in low slopes of the Vosges Mountains). Contrary to logic, the Bas-Rhin is actually to the north and the Haut-Rhin is in the south, but the difference is all elevation. The best vineyards have long been associated with the Haut-Rhin. In the Haut-Rhin is where you will find many of the pretigious Alsace Grand Cru vineyards.
