The dedicated team of Weingut Esterházy brings international experience and great passion for viticulture and enology together on the highest level. Esterhazy interprets the unique, distinctive heritage and centuries-old tradition of the estate in a way that keeps it current- an approach that is regularly validated and confirmed by the numerous awards and accolades Esterhazy receives, both domestic and international.
The history of the House of Esterházy goes back to the 13th century. The princely line was founded in 1687 by Emperor Leopold I. The ancestral family seat – the baroque Esterházy palace in Eisenstadt – was designed by the Italian architect, Carlone, and completed in 1683. Along with their high level of education and interest in art, music, and science, the Esterházy princes were known also for their magnificent royal household. Even the well-pampered Johann Wolfgang von Goethe raved about a “fairy tale kingdom” during his visit to one of the Esterházy festivities. Empress Maria Theresia loved the wine born from the lake's mild climate and refined in the Esterházy cellars. And the world-famous composer, Joseph Haydn, wanted to have part of his salary as the court musician paid in wine, recorded in 1789.
Wine-growing has been in the House of Esterházy for more than 250 years, and it has evolved to today‘s standard with the opening in 2006 of the new winery, with its state-of-the-art equipment and presentation rooms near Eisenstadt. Esterházy Estate is also Europe's first B-Corp Certified winery.

We call our regional wines Estoras, the Latin word for Esterhazy. They proudly bear the Order of the Golden Fleece on the label. For us, the inscription “Pretium laborum non vile”, Latin for "no small price for work", is both a claim and a promise.
Mo-Velt is a Grüner Veltliner from Esterhazy with Adi Holzer's painting "Papageno" on the label. This project pays homage to the long and beautiful history of Austrian art, wines and culture.
In partnership with the Belvedere Museum in Vienna, Austria Esterhazy Estate is able to use Gustav Klimt’s famous artwork, “The Kiss" to create beautiful labels for their exquisite wines.
Our project wines are based neither on regionally typical flavor profiles nor on classic vinification methods. Usually the first thing that comes up is the idea, which is then tried to be implemented in micro-vinifications with a few hundred bottles. Not all of these experimental wines make it into the bottle with us, because we only bottle projects that make us proud.
As a winery, we stand for varietal wines, which are organized according to the Romanesque wine law system. This means that the quality of the wines increases with a reduction in geographical origin. As an internationally active winery, it is important for us to show what we can create from our best grapes, from our best locations and our highest quality grape varieties if we carefully cuvée them together. We call this wine Tesoro (lat. Treasure), which is only produced in excellent years and has an international world-class format.
Due to the proximity to Lake Neusiedl, the region also has ideal conditions for the production of selected quality wines with and without noble rot (Botrytis). Starting with the Beerenauslese, through the local reed wine, to the ice wine and the Trockenbeerenauslese, our range covers everything - if the vintage allows it. Every year is different here, which is why these positive whims of nature cannot be created every year.

Brilliant lemon yellow. In the nose fine flower nectar, in addition citrus and apricot with delicate smoky hints. The sweetness is in the foreground, but perfectly balanced by a refreshing acidity. Fine, elegant and deep.
VINIFICATION
The grapes were harvested on 16 December 2018 in the early morning hours at minus 9° Celsius and pressed immediately. The must was slowly fermented in small wooden barrels, the fermentation then stopped at an alcohol level of 10% by cooling to achieve a nice balance of residual sugar and acidity.
FOOD PAIRING
The wine thrives on its elegant sweet-acid interplay and crystal-clear fruit combined with fine wood spice. As such, it harmonises perfectly with fruit-driven desserts or as a soloist with an aperitif.

Influenced by the hot continental Pannonian climate, the easternmost of Austrian federal states – Burgenland – produces the most opulent and authoritative red wines in Austria, along with complex whites and extraordinarily fine nobly sweet wines. Here, though, there are regional differences – not to be underestimated – that come into play with regard to the natural conditions.
