The Serra do Mendro separates the Alto Alentejo from the Baixo Alentejo and has its highest point in the Herdade Aldeia de Cima at an altitude of 424 metres above seal level. It was here that Luisa Amorim sensed the "dormant" potential of a unique geological heritage, where it would be possible to plant the first traditional terraced vineyard in the Alentejo. In an attempt to nurture the typical regional characteristics of this warm region, that has been producing wine for more than 2,000 years, Aldeia de Cima’s classic and elegant wines reflect the enormous complexity of the heterogeneous soils and the character of the native grape varieties and other varieties perfectly adapted to the region. The winery adopts a minimal oenological approach aimed at emphasizing the diversity and disparate character of the 36 micro-plots.
The winery enables the wines to be made with minimal intervention, where the goal is to highlight the heterogeneity and different character of the micro plots, soils and grape varieties. It was considered to be essential to matured the wines in oak vats and Nico Velo cement tanks, and design a winery with a capacity for 100,000 bottles.

The Cante Alentejano (polyphonic singing from the Alentejo) is a unique expression of the local people. Its inclusion by UNESCO on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity reflects the Alentejan people’s love for the land and their resilience in the face of the harshness of life. It was created to entertain workers while they toiled in the fields and evokes the purity of the spirit of the epoch.

ABOUT
We’re talking about the steep-sloping landscape of the Serra do Mendro, which separates the Alto and Baixo Alentejo. This geological phenomenon in the municipality of Vidigueira, with an east-west orientation, forms a natural corridor ideal for the influence of Atlantic winds. It was here, looking up at the light blue sky, that we dreamed of making our wines. The Reserva Branco (white) combines the terroir of this land, influenced by the cooler climate and the diversity of skeletal soils, producing a balanced wine with a fragrant aroma, linear structure, and high density and minerality.
TASTING NOTES
Deep straw yellow color with solid crystal tears. Aromas of wild flowers, ripe stone fruit and spices. On the palate it is a dry and full bodied wine with ripe flavors and a long complex finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Baked white fish, root vegetables, hard cheeses and pasta and rice dishes.

ABOUT
We have studied the ancient history of the Alentejo’s wines and vineyards, as well as a vast range of traditions, geology, textures and aromas. We preserve genuineness because we feel, from the outset, that we have time on our side. We looked for traditional grape varieties and found them. Using the most simple process, we have managed to produce wines that are authentic messengers, clearly conveying the local emotions and terroir. Our ambition was to come to understand the nature of the spots, and we succeeded.
TASTING NOTES
Moderately intense ruby red color with thick sparkling tears. Aromas of ripe prunes, black currants, spice, black pepper and minerality. On the palate it has a velvety texture followed by a long finish.

A region of rolling plains, the Alentejo has a relatively smooth and flat landscape that stretches across almost a third of mainland Portugal. Only Serra de São Mamede, to the north of the denomination, differs from the standard. The soils alternate between schist, clay, marble, granite and limestone, in an unusual diversity. The climate is clearly Mediterranean, hot and dry, with a strong continental influence.
The Alentejo is divided into eight sub-regions, Borba, Évora, Granja-Amareleja, Moura, Portalegre, Redondo, Reguengos and Vidigueira, grouped into three distinct groups. Portalegre is the most original sub-region, with predominantly granite soils, influenced by the freshness of the Serra de São Mamede. The landscape offers numerous plots of old vines, planted on the steep slopes of the mountain, benefiting from a unique microclimate that confers freshness and complexity.
