Bodegas Leza García is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Rioja Alta, in the Najerilla Valley near Uruñuela, Spain. With roots dating back to 1920, the winery was founded when Juan Leza Arenzana began cultivating grapes in his hometown of Uruñuela, laying the foundation for a winemaking legacy that has continued across generations. Today, the winery is proudly managed by the third generation of the family: brothers Luis Fernando, Juan Ángel, and Donato Leza García, who carry forward the family’s commitment to quality, tradition, and innovation.
The Leza García family oversees all aspects of the winery’s operations, maintaining full control over each stage of the winemaking process from vineyard to bottle. Their leadership reflects a deep respect for the family’s heritage, combined with a forward-thinking vision that embraces modern viticulture and winemaking practices.
The estate cultivates over 110 hectares of vineyards across varying altitudes and microclimates, which contribute to the structure, freshness, and complexity of their wines. Sustainable farming practices and plot-by-plot management allow them to highlight the unique characteristics of each vineyard. Tempranillo serves as the cornerstone of their red wines, supported by Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo, while Viura, Malvasía, and Tempranillo Blanco form the foundation of their whites.
In the cellar, traditional Rioja methods such as oak aging are blended with modern techniques to enhance fruit expression and balance. The winery's diverse portfolio includes everything from young and approachable wines to complex crianzas, reservas, and single-vineyard selections. Signature lines like LG and Nube reflect the winery’s ability to honor Rioja’s heritage while appealing to contemporary palates. Under the dedicated leadership of the Leza García family, the winery continues to produce expressive, terroir-driven wines that embody the spirit of Rioja Alta.
