Stellenbosch, South Africa's famed wine region, is where the vibrant story of Beau Joubert wines began in 1695. Governor Simon van der Stel granted the land, then known as Veelverjaagt, to Jan Coenraad Visser (JCV). A century later, the farm found a new owner in Dirk Daniel Joubert, a descendant of French Huguenots. Over five generations, the Joubert family has indelibly shaped this remarkable property.
The turn of the millennium ushered in a fresh chapter. Captivated by the beauty of the Cape on their first South African visit, a group of families from Wisconsin, USA, joined forces with the Jouberts. This flourishing American-South African partnership led to the creation of Beau Joubert, a name that perfectly blends the French word "beau" (meaning beautiful) with the Joubert family legacy, forever linked to Old World winemaking traditions in this new world setting.
Fast forward to 2016, and Beau Joubert embarks on yet another exciting chapter. Co-Owner and Managing Director, Andrew Hilliard, takes full ownership of the brands, and partners with the award-winning winemaker, Catherine Marshall, for their inaugural vintage in 2019. To ensure the continued excellence of Beau Joubert wines, grapes are now sourced from some of the most exceptional vineyards throughout the Cape, guaranteeing exceptional quality for years to come.
“Looking back over the 20+ years, this has been such an incredible journey. Immersing myself in the South African wine business, from farming to winemaking, as well as it’s amazing culture! I've been excited to see where the next 20+ years takes us."

Sometimes, if we’re lucky, life turns up the most unlikely of partnerships. Our Potter’s Wheel Chenin Blanc is one such combination. A delicate, complex wine, named after the potter’s namesake (a true bear of a man), using the time-honored practice of battonage in the amphorae clay pots and small oak barrels. Our winemakers have spun together this chenin blanc that balances a confident base of flint and roasted hazelnut against soaring ginger, orange blossom, and the late bloom of lemon verbena. Its aromatics of ripe cantaloupe and nectarine make way for the subtle spice of freshly grated nutmeg on the nose.
TASTING NOTES
This elegant wine is bright, clean and full-bodied. Spending 7 months in small French oak barrels and receiving the age-old practice of batonage. The aromatics of sweet cantaloupe, nectarine with an underlying of nutmeg round off the bouquet. A flintiness with roasted hazelnut, ginger, orange blossoms, finishing with a racy lemon verbena on the palate.

In the Coastal Region, nestled between the majestic Simonsberg and Stellenbosch Mountains, Stellenbosch boasts the title of South Africa's most famous wine-producing region. Steeped in history and boasting a tapestry of diverse landscapes, it's a land where rolling vineyards meet dramatic mountain slopes, all bathed in the warm South African sunshine. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. This sunshine-drenched environment provides ideal conditions for grape ripening, while the cooling influences prevent excessive sugar accumulation, resulting in wines with balanced acidity. The diversity of the landscape plays a crucial role as well. Granite and sandstone soils dominate the region, offering excellent drainage and imparting a distinctive minerality to the wines. Pockets of other soil types, like clay and loam, add further complexity, allowing winemakers to explore a wider range of grape varietals.
